Patrol releases Independence Day enforcement results

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said hundreds of warnings were issued over the Independence Day Holiday in northwest Missouri.

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, Wednesday announced the results of the special enforcement project over the July Fourth weekend. The project encompassed two days, June 30, 2017, and July 4, 2017, designated as the peak travel days for the holiday period. Interstate 29 was the roadway designated for this project and troopers were assigned 20-mile sections of the interstate from the Buchanan County line to the Iowa state line. As a result of the project officers issued 146 citations and 283 warnings. There were two additional misdemeanor drug arrests made as a result of the project.

“Troop H trooper’s vigorous enforcement efforts this July Fourth weekend helped keep everyone traveling through Troop H safe,” Captain McDonald said.
