Levi Eugene Coon
1984-2017

Levi Eugene Coon 33, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 at his home in St. Joseph. He was born January 25, 1984 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of Pamela & Louis Coon, Jr. Levi attended Benton high school. He was a avid Chiefs and Royals fan. Levi enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing video games, and spending time with his son and family. He is survived by his parents, Louis W, Jr. and Pamela J. Coon, his son, Landen Michael Coon of St. Joseph, MO, 2 brothers, David (Crystal) Wilkerson and Raymond (Ashley) Coon all of St. Joseph, MO, sister, Cynthia (Mackie) Mackie of St. Joseph, MO, paternal grandmother, Juanita Ellis of St. Joseph, MO, and several, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home. A Graveside Memorial service will be held later.

Robert “Bob” Fay Donaldson
1931-2017

Robert “Bob” Fay Donaldson 85, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Mosaic Life care hospital. He was born September 22, 1931 in Rushville, MO, son of the late Manda and Vern Donaldson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob worked at Con Agra then Cargill grain elevator in Atchison Kansas retiring as a Supervisor after 50 years of service. He loved to garden, hunt, fish, and drive the roads in the southside lake areas, Rushville, and Halls areas. Bob was preceded in death by wife, Anna Mae Donaldson, his parents, granddaughters: Missy Harrison and Barbara Miller, grandson, Robbie Donaldson, and great grandson, Robbie Donaldson, brothers, Jerry, Tom, Clinton, and sister Ruth Moeck. Survivors include, daughters, Letha (Shaun) Nold, Jodi Defisher, Nina (Doug) Alders, Betty Jean all of St. Joseph, sons, Robert (Claudine) Donaldson, Rick (Cindy) Donaldson both of Rushville, MO, and Kenny (Gail) Donaldson, St. Joseph, grandchildren, Angie (Andy) Becker, Joshua (Andrea) Donaldson, Tyler (Maranda) Donaldson, Phillip Hoyt, Danielle Bowen, Jessica Donaldson, Mistina LaFave, Jamie Epps, Eric Miller, and Jeremy Mitchell, numerous great grandchildren, and his brother, Fred (Mary) Donaldson, Rushville, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Champ officiating, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Armstrong Cemetery, Rushville, MO.

Kimberly “Kim” Ann Reeps
1962-2017

Kimberly “Kim” Ann Reeps, 54, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care.
She was born in Havana, Illinois to Donald and Sherrill (Guilliams) Fields on November 7, 1962.
Kimberly married Rick Reeps on August 21, 1983, he survives of the home.
She loved cooking, gardening and spending time with family.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her father and niece, Jennifer Hofman.
Additional survivors include; her mother; son, Bryce; sister, Stacy Fields-Smith; brothers, Greg Fields, Steven Fields; extended family and friends.

Shirley Ione Weaver
1919-2017

KS Shirley I. Weaver, age 97, formerly of the Hamlin-Hiawatha area, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation Center, Beatrice, Nebraska.

Shirley Ione Cloud was born December 24, 1919 southwest of Hamlin, Kansas to Frank and Ione (Berkley) Cloud. She was raised northwest of Hamlin and attended Pleasant Hill Grade School and graduated from Hamlin High School in 1937. Shirley worked in the Brown County Courthouse before she married Glenn E. Weaver on December 8, 1943 at her parents’ home. Glenn and Shirley lived on a farm north of Hamlin and later east of Hamlin until they retired to Hiawatha in 1990. Shirley enjoyed helping Glenn on the farm and raising a garden. She attended Hamlin Baptist Church most of her life where she was a member. Glenn died February 7, 2008 after 64 years of marriage. Shirley continued to live in Hiawatha until her health changed and she moved to Beatrice, Nebraska in 2012 to be near family.

She is survived by 3 children: Janet (Chris) Pasker of Claremont, California; Jack (Connie) Weaver of Wheaton, Illinois; Rita (Dave) Smith of Beatrice, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren: Tom (Jackie) Pasker, Pasadena, CA, Laura (Brendan) Riggs, Warrensburg, MO, Mark Pasker, Claremont, CA,Megan Smith, La Vista, NE, Trent (Wendy) Weaver, Wheaton, IL, Jill Pasker (fiance Justen Seymour), San Jose, CA, Grant (Kristin) Smith, Blue Springs, MO, Elizabeth Weaver, New Orleans, LA; 3 great grandchildren: Matthew Riggs, Violet Weaver, Asher Smith; and a sister and brother-in-law Ann and Jim Woods of Long Beach, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, son Randy, and her parents.

A Celebration of Shirley’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Shane Spangler will officiate with burial at Hamlin Cemetery.

Friends may call after 12 noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.

Rita Marie Jacobs (Domann)
1920-2017

Rita M. (Domann) Jacobs, (1920-2017) – 97 years young
Rita Marie (Domann) Jacobs, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Atchison, Kansas passed away in her home, early Sunday morning on July 30, 2017, surrounded by her family members.
A faithful Kansas native, Rita was born at home on her parent’s farm near Mooney Creek, Kansas on February 5, 1920. She was the seventh of ten children born to Louis and Elizabeth (Lynn) Domann. She grew up on her family’s farm and began her passion as a life-long learner in a one-room school house. She graduated from Winchester High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and participating in theater. Later in life she attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and studied Art. She was one of the founding members of the Picture Lady team that aimed to educate elementary school children in their understanding and appreciation of fine art. She was known for gifting her grandchildren with good books, art supplies and lively encouragement to learn and create.
Rita married Lewis Jacobs on August 1, 1942. Beginning their married life in Arizona, they soon relocated to Atchison, Kansas where they raised their four children and helped to build their hometown community. They were avid supporters of Benedictine College and the Atchison Catholic Elementary Schools (ACES). Her husband Lewis passed away on May 17, 2000. Rita also volunteered with the Atchison Hospital and Sacred Heart Parent Teacher Association. She was an active volunteer for Theater Atchison and served on their Board of Directors as well. Having been raised during the Great Depression, Rita grew to be a positive, resourceful and resilient woman. She was known for saying “Always do your best and let God take care of the rest.” She loved to read, play the piano and listen to the opera on Saturday mornings. Many were the recipients of her exquisite meals where she welcomed family and friends together.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Elizabeth, her husband Lewis Jacobs, her brothers Raymond, Raphael, Paul, Claude and Don, sisters Rachel, Agatha, Lorraine and Jeannette. Survivors include her sons David Lewis (Mary) Jacobs of Somers, Montana, Thomas Edward (Beth) Jacobs of Drexel, Missouri, daughters Elizabeth Lynn Fitzgerald (Michael) of Lincoln, Nebraska and Patricia Ann (Jeff) Lowry of Louisburg, Kansas. Grandchildren include Matthew (Cindy) Jacobs, Curtis (Debbie) Jacobs, Joshua (Treina) Jacobs, Nicholas Jacobs, Andrew (Jessica) Jacobs, Keegan (Madelaine) Fitzgerald, Kevin (Sarah) Fitzgerald, Maureen Fitzgerald, Bridget (Trevor) Ketner and Fiona Fitzgerald. Great grandchildren include Amanda, Erica, Anthony, Ben, Cory, Connor, Brett, Jefferson, Jessica, Tyler, John, Lilly, Aedan, Cole, Bailey Catherine, Rowan and Abigail. Rita’s great-great grandchildren are named Kean, Ava, Oliver and Logan.
A Rosary/Vigil will be held at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison, KS 66002 on Thursday evening, August 3, 2017 at 7:00pm with visitation to follow until 9:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 18760 Rogers Road, Atchison, KS 66002, with Fr. Dennis Wait as Celebrant. Minnie Mae Collins
1927-2017

Minnie Mae Collins, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at a health care facility in Savannah, Missouri.
She was born September 29, 1927 to Hillory and Minnie (Franklin) Wallace.
Minnie was a true Christian and loved the Lord. After returning to St. Joseph, Minnie volunteered at The Salvation Army and the Calvin Center.
Minnie had a true cousin and a companion who she cherished dearly, Todda. The two were inseparable and if you seen one you seen the other. Minnie and Todda attended a lot of things together, to Minnie Todda wasn’t just a cousin, but was her comforter and companion. Todda will dearly miss Minnie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sherry R. Collins; sisters, Bernice Brown, Nellie Wallace, Louise Jackson, Clara Wallace, Mary Wallace, Virginia Wallace, Georgia Burns; brothers, Frank, Kenneth, George, Norman, and Hillory Jr.
Survivors include daughter, Elaine A. Collins, Detroit, Michigan and son, Allan T. Collins, Bellville, Michigan; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Herman D. Richter
1932-2017

Herman Dale Richter, one of four sons and one daughter born to Fred and Elpha (Petty) Richter, was born on August 11, 1932. He was born on a farm four miles south of Union Star, Missouri.
He was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church south of Union Star.
Herman attended Glenwood Grade School for eight years, then Clarksdale High School for one year. He finished high school in Union Star in 1950. During the summers of his schooling, he worked the wheat harvest in western Kansas.
After graduating high school, he attended Ranken Technical School in St. Louis where he studied auto mechanics for two years. He also attended Central Technical Institute in Kansas City where he majored in electronics for two years.
Herman enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, for basic training for two years. He was then transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming, for further training in electrical and mechanical trade. He was also stationed in Thule, Greenland, as a power plant operator for one year. Herman then went to Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas, for two years. He was also at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. He served for a total of four years during the Korean Conflict (1952-1956).
While on leave from Wyoming in St. Joseph, Missouri, Herman met his future wife, Donna Leah Jones. They were married on August 31, 1958, at South Park Methodist Church in St. Joseph. They moved to Kansas City in 1958 where Herman started working for the (then)Bendix Corp.
Two girls were born to this marriage.
Herman and Donna became members of Countryside Methodist Church (now One Spirit Methodist Church) in Raytown, Missouri. In 1980, they became members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City. He was a member of the Men’s Club, and he served on the Building Maintenance Committee for a number of years. He also took part in many church-related activities.
Herman and Donna later moved to Lee’s Summit in 1992. He worked at the Bendix Corp. for 35 years before retiring in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Campbell; brother, Willis Richter.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Karen Broitman of Richmond, Virginia, and Lisa Flaxbeard, of Burleson, Texas; grandsons, Jacob Broitman, Joshua Flaxbeard, and Michael Flaxbeard.
