Man accused of assaulting and robbing victim at Krug Park

A St. Joseph man is accused of assaulting and robbing a man at Krug Park.

Mickey Nyman, 24 is charged in Buchanan County with a class-D felony of stealing.

According to court documents, on July 31 Nyman and a co-defendant are accused of luring a victim to Krug Park with the intent of robbing him. Det. Frank Till with the St. Joseph Police Department said once the victim arrived Nyman distracted him while the co-defendant approached from out of sight.

“The co-defendant then began assaulting the victim and the defendant joined in,” Till said. “They then stole numerous items from him including his vehicle.”

Till said Nyman has previous assault convictions and is currently a suspect in other ongoing investigations including a domestic assault case.

Nyman is being held without bail. An arraignment is scheduled for Friday.

Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney, Dwight Scroggins said Wednesday that no additional defendants have been charged in connection with the incident.
