A St. Joseph Hy-Vee employee was honored for her dedication during a surprise ceremony Friday morning.

According to a news release, Dabora Minor is the custodian at the St. Joseph Hy-Vee. However, the company said Minor’s real job is as the matriarch at the store and throughout the community.

“Few people in this world let their light shine more than Dabora Minor,” said Ryan Swafford, digital marketing coordinator for Hy-Vee. “Nearly 14 years with Hy-Vee has made her an irreplaceable part of our customers’ shopping experience and lives.”

Hy-Vee said Minor’s helpful smile and positive attitude are why she was chosen as a recipient of Hy-Vee’s highest honor, the Legendary Customer Service Award.

Friday morning fellow employees, family members, customers and Hy-Vee executives gathered at the St. Joseph Hy-Vee to surprise Minor with the Legendary Customer Service Award. Each year, nine winners are selected from among more than 85,000 Hy-Vee employees across eight states.
