The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating after a 19-year-old was shot in the leg Thursday night in midtown.
Capt. Jeff Wilson said officers responded to the area of 13th and Edmond streets around 9 p.m. on a call of shots fired. When the arrived, Wilson said officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
“The victim initially stated that he didn’t know who shot him,” Wilson said. “Just that he heard several shots.”
The man was allegedly standing by a vehicle when the incident took place. He was transported to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Officers said they do not believe the shooting was random. Wilson said detectives are currently working possible leads in the case.
