A man was taken into custody after a standoff Thursday evening near downtown St. Joseph.

Capt. Jeff Wilson with the St. Joseph Police Department said officers responded a a home in the 900 block of N. 13th street to try to serve an active felony warrant.

“Upon arrival it was confirmed that the subject was inside the residence but refused to exit. Members of the Special Response Team were called to the scene,” Wilson said. “After a couple of hours of negotiation the subject exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.”

31-year-old Robert E. Martorelli of St. Joseph was arrested on an active felony warrant for dangerous drugs.

Wilson said a 23-year-old woman was also arrested in reference to an investigation hold during the incident.
