ST. JOSEPH – After dropping the first two games of their series with No. 21 St. Cloud State, the Missouri Western baseball team salvaged the final game of the series Sunday 9-5. The Griffons improve to 5-5 on the season.
Missouri Western jumped out early with three runs in both the second and third innings. After the Huskies cut the lead down to two runs, Casey Danley added insurance for MWSU. Danley belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Griffons avoid being swept.
NOTABLES
– Jake Miller had a game-high five strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs
– Will Jibas scored four runs and recorded an RBI
– Casey Danley went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs and had three RBIs
– Trever Carroll tossed four innings and gave up two earned runs
– MWSU’s nine RBIs is the second most this season
– St. Cloud State committed four errors and five of its nine runs allowed were earned runs
