Savannah, Mo. Glenda Sue (Abbett) Simerly, 70, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the LaVerna Village Nursing Home in Savannah, Missouri.
Glenda was born on December 11, 1947 in Wathena, Kansas to William Lee & Frances L. (Krousa) Abbett.
She graduated Wathena High School in 1966. Glenda then graduated from Hillyard Technical School & worked as a nurse for Sisters, Methodist & Heartland East Hospitals for 26 years & was a beautician for 9 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents & a brother, Ronald Lee Abbett.
Survivors: son, James W.A. Simerly (Lisa) of Savannah, Missouri

Betty Louise Beamon
1925-2018
Betty Louise Beamon 92, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Savannah, MO. She was born September 11, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Katherine and Mendell Row. She graduated from Benton High School in 1943 . She married Louis Beamon on December 21, 1946. She worked at J.C. Penney as a accounting clerk/cashier. She was active in church and loved spending time with her family, and was a member of the former King Hill Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Cheryl Kline. Survivors include, daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Polsky of Saint Joseph, MO, son, Bob (Michele) Beamon of St. Joseph, MO, 6 grandchildren, David, Jonathan, and Daniel Kline, John Beamon, Joel (Alissa) Polsky and Matthew (Melissa) Polsky, numerous great grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Edward Row and Robert (Gail) Row of St. Joseph, MO
Funeral services: 10:00 am, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. Greg Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery . Terance “Terry” James Farley Jr.
1953-2018
Terance “Terry” James Farley Jr. 64, of Saint Joseph, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 in Saint Joseph. He was born September 15, 1953 in St. Joseph, son of Dolores (Kempf) and Terance Farley Sr. He attended Central High School. Terry worked at Dugdale Packing, Holt’s Bar, Holt’s Farm, and Butchart’s Flowers. He loved fishing. He was of the Baptist Faith. Terry was a member of the King Hill Lodge #376 A.F.&A.M, having served as Past Master. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jana Hunter, and sister, Maggie Huber. He is survived by son, Sean (Tina) Farley of Saint Joseph, sister, Teresa (Joel) Bally of St. Joseph, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. He will be cremated following services under the care and direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.
Raymond L. Munger
1935-2018
WATHENA,KS Raymond Munger, 82, of Wathena, Kansas died Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
Raymond was born on December 1, 1935 in White Cloud, Kansas to Pat and Freida (Krause) Munger. He was a lifelong resident of Wathena. Raymond was a truck driver and had worked at Dugdale Packing Plant in St. Joseph, Missouri for 20 years.
He married Juanita Corcoran on October 17, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2010. Raymond was also preceded by his parents, infant children; Sherry Lynn, Rickie Ray and Turb Patrick, brothers; Norman and Glen Munger.
He is survived by his children; Anita Long (Mark) of Wathena

Grandchildren; Quenton and Colton Munger, Raymond Munger III, Hadley, Bailey and Payton Munger, Christopher Godar, Matthew Long, Nathan Long, Brydan Long.

Several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The body has been cremated. There will be no services or visitation. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial to the Shriner’s Hospital. Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena in charge of arrangements.
Billy Joe Roumas
1957-2018
Billy Joe Roumas 60, of Saint Joseph, Missouri grabbed the hands of the angels and ascended to heaven to be with the Almighty God on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born August 31, 1957 and raised in St. Joseph, MO. Billy worked at Bradken, formerly Atchison Steel Castings, as well as Suncoast Heat Treat in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He loved Nascar Racing, and he was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Billy was a loving father, grandfather, spouse and son. Heaven has a new angel.
He is survived by wife of 37 years, Katie Roumas of the home, daughters, Angela (Scott) Freseman of North Palm Beach, FL and Kaitley Roumas of St. Joseph, MO, his parents, William T. and Joan Roumas of St. Joseph, MO, his grandchildren, Caleb and Brandon Freseman, also of North Palm Beach, FL, his sister, Beverly (Jim) Davis of Highland, FL, and his cousin who was like a brother, James (Linda) Rhodd of White Cloud, KS, and many other extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Rupp Funeral Home with a Memorial Service following at 7:00 P.M., Pastor Jeff Grider officiating.
David William “Grizz” Davenport
1950-2018
David William “Grizz” Davenport, 67, of Hiawatha, passed away at his home February 2, 2018.
Hiawatha, Kansas David was the son of Homer C. Davenport of Costa Grande, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother Loretta Pauline Weber of Morrill, Kansas; and grand-parents Carl Victor Weber and Geneva Estella Weber.
David was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Sabetha, Kansas, December 3rd, 1950. David attended Morrill, Kansas elementary, middle and high school. David was a jack of all trades and worked for the Brown County bridge department in Hiawatha. He was also an over the road trucker out of Kansas City, Kansas for many years. When David was a young man, he worked in the oil fields. David had a love of motorcycles and was an avid rider.
He is a veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed in Puerto Rico. David is survived by one son Timothy Davenport of Arizona. He is also survived by one sibling Betty Ann Davenport Gier of Omaha, Nebraska. Other survivors include two nieces. Lacy Dawn Rudder of Omaha, Nebraska, Christel Lee Rudder-Nguyen of Omaha, Nebraska, one nephew Dennis Kelly Donohue of Omaha, Nebraska; four grand-nephews and two grand nieces, all of Omaha.
David’s cremated remains will privately be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Margaret Mary Goss
1929-2018
Margaret Mary (Wagner) Goss, 88, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at her home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where she lived since July 2016. She was born in Troy on August 20, 1929, to Leo Albert and Margaret Lanzel (Corcoran) Wagner. Margaret Mary married Kenneth (“Sam”) Goss on June 16, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Kenneth preceded her in death on December 26, 1998.
During her lifetime Margaret Mary worked throughout the offices in the Doniphan County Courthouse, retiring in 2000 as Deputy County Treasurer. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and she enjoyed being active in the Red Hat Society. She lived to spend time with family and friends, and she had a special affection for doting on her four grandsons. Possibly nothing, however, defined Margaret Mary more than her lifelong dedication as an avid fan of Kansas Jayhawk Basketball!
Margaret Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Theresa; sister, Rita; brothers, Lawrence, Bernard and wife Elaine (Atwood), Raymond and wife Loretta (Muenster), Albert and wife Geneva (Colley); brothers-in-law Ona Goss and Robert Goss; sisters-in-law, Donna (Goss) Jones and Virginia Goss; nephew, Jeffrey Goss and niece, Susan Goss.
Margaret Mary is survived by three sons, Steven of Dallas, Texas, Thomas and wife Hien of Olathe, Kansas, Michael and wife Sharon of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; four grandsons Robert, Joseph, Zachary and Seth; sisters-in-law, Barbara Goss of Troy and Irene Goss of Chillicothe, Missouri; and, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Margaret Mary’s life will be held Monday, February 19, 2018, 10:00 A.M., at St. Charles Catholic Church in Troy, Kansas. A Rosary will be held Sunday, February 18 at 3:00 PM at Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy with visitation following from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friends may visit after 9:00 A.M. on Sunday at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home.

Charles Robert “Bob” Shaver
1946-2018
Charles Robert “Bob” Shaver, 71, of Atchison, KS died on Thursday, Feb. 15th, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School Grant Fund. Bob was born on Dec. 1, 1946 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Clarence H. and Leona J. (Bane) Shaver. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1964, attended Highland Community College and received his B.S. Degree in Finance and Business from Pittsburg State University. Mr. Shaver was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam Conflict. After returning from the service he worked for a short time in the finance dept of Shell Oil. He then owned and operated “Shaver Landscaping” in Atchison for many years until his health forced him to stop. Mr. Shaver finished his working career at Walmart for several years.
Bob enjoyed working with youth as a basketball coach for Trinity Lutheran Grade School and Mount St. Scholastica Academy. He was an avid KU Basketball fan, as well as KC Royal and KC Chief’s fan. He especially enjoyed watching his children and later his grandchildren play sports.
He was married to Georgia Young on May 24, 1968 at the First Baptist Church, Atchison, KS. Gerogia survives of the home. Additional survivors include two daughters, Melodi A. (Max) Bona, Lenexa, KS, and Misti A. (Dan) Wilson, Cummings, KS, three brothers, Clarence H. Shaver, III, Boise, ID, Larry D. Shaver, Scottsdale, AZ, and Harold E. “Hal” Shaver, Overland Park, KS, and four grandchildren, Bailey R. Wilson, Brianna N, Madeline N. and Andrew R. Bona. His parents, and sister, Patty Lou Shaver preceded him in death.
Betty Ellen Dorrell
1921-2018
Betty Ellen Dorrell, 97, of Highland, died peacefully February 11, 2018, at Highland Health and Rehab Center where she had been a resident for nearly 2 years.
Betty was born at White Cloud, January 21, 1921, one of seven children born to Floyd P. and Alice Hall McAlister. She grew up in White Cloud where she attended schools and later graduated from High School. Betty was determined to further her education to where she would walk to Highland Junior College from White Cloud, stayed on campus thru the week, returning home to White Cloud on weekends. She graduated from Highland College with a teaching certificate to teach many years in Doniphan County area schools including: Iowa Point, White Cloud, Bendena and Wathena. She later worked several years for Hiawatha Welfare Assistance Office. She taught for a few years before completing her education at Haskell Indian College at Lawrence where she was a dorm Mother.
Mrs. Dorrell was a member of the Vanderslice Chapter of the Order of Easter Star. She was proud of Native American heritage and being a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George “Junior” in February 1983; three brothers: John Henry, Charles Philip, Fred, an infant brother ‘baby Jimmy’; and a sister Jo Walters. She was also preceded in death by her faithful companion Dolly (her dog).
Survivors include a son Thomas Dorrell of Highland; two daughters Alice Petty of Winfield, Celeste Allerton of Santa Fe, NM; a brother Val McAlister of Fayetteville, NC; a foster daughter Doris Gibson of Highland; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; also, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held this spring in the George Ogden Building on the Iowa Reservation.
Gregory Lynn Monach
1952-2018
Gregory Lynn Monach 65, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday February 17, 2018 at his home. He was born December 22, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of the late JoAnn (Earl) Carter & James (Pat) Monach. He married Gay Thornton Monach on March 3, 1986, in Las Vegas, NV. He graduated from Central High School class of 1971. He worked at Mead products for 31 years in management and retired from Missouri Western State University in 2015 after 9 1/2 years as the custodial supervisor. He was elected All State Football Central High School 1971, enjoyed fantasy Nascar and football, traveling, especially to Hawaii. He was a Kansas Speedway ticket holder and also enjoyed Richard Petty driving experiences, and most of all spoiling his grandchildren. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dee Monach, and brother in law Larry Thornton. Survivors include wife, Gay Monach of the home, daughters, Ashley (Tyson) Bottorff, Parkville, MO and Jamie (Zach) Barnes, St. Joseph, MO, a brother, Stan (Joyce) Monach, Murrietta, CA, four grandchildren, Paisley, Hayden, Addison, and Skyler, and his mother in law, Darlene Thornton, St. Joseph, MO, brother in law, Scott Thornton, St. Joseph, MO, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home, and a Celebration of Life will start at 7:00 PM Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
