Two injured in crash on icy road

Two people were injured in a crash on an ice-covered road Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Mary R. Anderson of St. Joseph was driving a Buick LeSabre south on Route V about six miles south of St. Joseph around 7:15 a.m.

Anderson overcorrected the car on the ice-covered road, which caused the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and overturn several times before coming to rest on its top.

Anderson was transported to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of moderate injuries. A passenger in the car, 58-year-old Daniel W. Anderson of St. Joseph was transported by helicopter to Mosaic for treatment of serious injuries.

According to the crash report, neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
