PETTIS COUNTY – A Missouri man died in an accident just before 11a.m. Thursday in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported 82-year-old William E. Klein of Smithton exited a Nissan passenger vehicle to open a gate in the 30000 Block of Highway V. He failed to place the vehicle in park. The vehicle continued forward and hit him.

Klein was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Pettis County Coroner’s office.
