Missouri Western softball splits doubleheader with Nebraska-Kearney

ST. JOSEPH – Griffon Softball (22-23, 13-7) took a shutout win and a shutout loss on Senior Day, defeating Nebraska Kearney (14-27, 10-14) 3-0 in game two and losing 4-0 in game one of a doubleheader.

Kaili Hinds picked up her fourth-straight shutout and extended her scoreless innings streak to 26 with the game two victory. She struck out four and didn’t walk a batter. The doubleheader was scheduled to be the Griffons’ final home game, so the team’s four seniors were recognized after game two. The senior class of Riley Wilson, Barbara Billingsley, Shelbie Atwell and Rebekah Mueller has combined for 141 wins. The class was part of the 2016 MIAA regular season and postseason championship teams and advanced to the NCAA Central Region Championships each of the last three seasons.
