CASS COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 8:30p.m. Monday in Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by Alec B. Rush, 20, Lee’s Summit, was southbound on MO 291 just north of Kidwell Road.

The vehicle hit a deer, crossed the center line and struck the front of a northbound 2016 Ford Fusion driven by Nathaniel E. Slaughter, 28, Lee’s Summit.

Rush was transported to Research Medical Center where he died.  Slaughter was transported to Centerpoint Hospital with moderate injuries.

Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
