A 54-year-old man faces a felony charge after a domestic disturbance led to a shooting Monday night in St. Joseph.

As previously reported, dispatchers received a call around 10:30 p.m. Monday about a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of W. Valley St.

According to the probable cause statement, Shawn P. Flaherty is charged with one class-B felony count of first-degree domestic assault after shooting his wife in the leg with a handgun during a domestic dispute. The woman suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Mosaic Life Care for treatment.

An arraignment is scheduled for Friday morning. Bond is denied.
