LAFAYETTE COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 10p.m. Wednesday in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Nissan passenger vehicle driven by Donna M. Sparks, 19, Blackburn, was southbound on Mo. 20 at Mo. 23. The driver failed to yield make a left turn. The Nissan turned into the path of a westbound 1997 Saturn driven by David M. Gamel, 58, Corder.

Gamel was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home.

Sparks and a passenger in the Saturn Caleb M. Mace, 22, Blackburn, were transported to Centerpointe Medical Center. Another passenger in the Saturn Zavien M. Dierenfeldt, 13, unknown address, was transported to Lafayette Regional  Medical Center.

Mace was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
