PHELPS COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 1:30p.m. Tuesday in Phelps County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by Richard G. Martin, 47, Rolla, was southbound on Highway 68 eight miles south of St. James.  The van crossed the center line and struck a 2006 Sterling truck driven by Russell C. Enyard, 51, O’Fallon,  head-on.

An air medical transport flew Martin to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis where he died.  Enyard was not injured.

Martin was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
