JACKSON COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 4p.m. Thursday in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Kia passenger vehicle driven by Ruth A. Adkins, 80, Kingsville, 80, was southbound on U.S. 50 at Buckner Tarsney Road.

The driver failed to yield to an oncoming 2004 Chevy passenger vehicle driven by Jared D. Lainhart, 31, Kansas City.  The Chevy struck the Kia on the driver’s side.

Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Lainhart was treated at the scene.  Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
