Missouri deputy dies after patrol car swept away by flood water

GREENE COUNTY — A Missouri sheriff’s deputy died in an accident on Friday in fast rising floodwaters.

Greene County deputy Aaron Paul Roberts cleared a 911 call in the 9500 block of Farm Road 2, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Roberts was returning to service and moments later radioed that his car was washed off of the road.
Deputies and Officers from all over the area along with Springfield Fire/Water rescue and 417 Drone Imaging responded to the scene.
A short time later, first responders found 36-year-old Roberts’ body near his patrol car, approximately 100 feet off the road.

Authorities released no additional details early Saturday.
