Mostly sunny today with heat index values near 98

The abnormally hot and humid conditions will continue through Thursday with highs in the lower 90s and heat indices in the mid-90s. A cold front will push into the area Thursday night bringing chances of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong with gusty winds being the main threat. Behind the front, temperatures will be noticeably cooler with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the lower 60s for the weekend. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 98. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 70. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 97. South wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. South southeast wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 74.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
