GREENE COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 8p.m. Monday in Greene County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1997 Nissan Maxima driven by McKenzie M. Rauch, 16, Springfield, was eastbound on U.S. 160 at North Farm Road.

The Nissan crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2001 Chevy Suburban driven by Richard L. Jean, 53, Springfield.

The SUV became airborne, overturned, caught fire and ejected the driver. Rauch and Jean were transported to Mercy Hospital where Rauch died.

Jean was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
