St. Joseph man sentenced to life in prison for fatal stabbing

A St. Joseph man who stabbed a woman to death at a bar where she worked has been sentenced to life in prison.

Eliseo Hernandez-Sebastian was sentenced Thursday for first-degree murder of 38-year-old Terra M. Reents. As previously reported, on Feb. 3, 2018, police say Hernandez-Sebastian started a disturbance at Legend’s Sports Bar and Grill in St. Joseph and when asked to leave, he stabbed an employee, James B. Cleveland. Cleveland was treated and released at Mosaic Life Care. Reents also attempted to get Hernandez-Sebastian to leave the property. Hernandez-Sebastian stabbed Reents who later died from her injuries.

According to court documents, Hernandez-Sebastian was also sentenced to 50 years each for two convictions of armed criminal action and a life sentence for first-degree assault, all to be served consecutively.
