Maryville man seriously injured in Wednesday morning crash

A Maryville man was seriously injured in a Wednesday morning crash on US 71.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:40 a.m., 35-year-old Colt J. Gardiner was driving a Chrysler 200 south on US 71 about 10 miles south of Maryville. Gardiner reportedly fell asleep and the vehicle went off the east side of the road. Gardiner overcorrected, the vehicle went off the west side of the road, became airborne and hit an embankment.

Gardiner was transported by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment of serious injuries.

According to the crash report, he was not wearing a seatbelt.
