Brenda L. Jones
1947 – 2019
Brenda L. Jones, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019.
She was born June 2, 1947 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Brenda was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She graduated from Plymouth-Carver High School in 1965 and subsequently worked in several Boston hospitals, which included her time as a Registered Nurse at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
In 1977 she entered the United States Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant, going on to earn her Bachelors and Masters Degree while proudly serving. A decorated Officer, Brenda was the recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal and Military Service Medal. She retired honorably in 1991 as a Lieutenant Colonel from Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, where she served in support of the nation’s space program.
Brenda was very philanthropic and gave to many charities, including the Restoration of Haiti Relief.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noy and Carolyn (Gomes) Furtado.
Survivors include brother, Wallace Furtado (Dona); nephew, Wallace Michael Furtado (Kelly); great-nephews, Jalen and Case Furtado; great-niece, Maya Carolyn Marie Furtado.
The family would like to thank Angela Smith and her husband Matthew for the exceptional care they gave to Brenda.

Richard I. Carpentier
1946 – 2019
Richard I. Carpentier, 72, Elwood, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
He was born April 28, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include son, Richard Allen Carpentier (Stephanie); grandchildren, Colby and Zaden.

Everett C. Hite
1931 – 2019
Everett C. Hite, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at home.
He was born September 16, 1931.
Everett married Catherine Cahill on September 4, 1952.
He served in the Army during the Korean war. Everett retired from AGP after 39 ½ years of employment.
He was very outgoing with a fun-loving sense of humor. Everett never met a stranger and was a very caring friend and family man. He loved nature, animals, and sports. Everett was a faithful Jehovah witness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lois S. (Johnson) Hite of Illinois; siblings, Charlotte, Eugene, Donald Hite; daughter, Roseanne Alexander; grandsons, Jason and Alec.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Catherine; daughters, Ruth Williams, St. Joseph, MO, Connie Crawford, San-Tan Valley, AZ, Kathleen Dennison, Tulsa, OK, Angela McCorkle, St. Joseph, MO; sister, Lois Beck, Cottonwood, AZ; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Farewell Services & Internment 3:00 P.M. Saturday, Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
Harry Steinberg
1924 – 2019
Harry Steinberg, 94, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019.
He was born November 21, 1924 in Onawa, Iowa.
Harry married Bernice Barron December 28, 1952. She preceded him in death February 12, 2012.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Harry began his career with Empire Trust Bank. He later was office manager at St. Joseph Wholesale Liquor and retired as manager from Blocks Discount.
Harry was also preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Rachel (Tike) Steinberg; sisters, Esther Steinberg and Grace Day.
Survivors include son, Richard Steinberg (Robbie).

Janice (Jenny) Minnis
1944 – 2019
Janice (Jenny) Minnis, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 18, 2019.
Jenny was born on February 3, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Joseph and Matilda (Klein) Harris. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1962.
Jenny married Dee A. Minnis, of Atchison, Kansas, on August 20, 1964, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph. They made their home in Denver, Colorado for five years. They then moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1969, where they opened Pisa Pizza and operated it together as a family with their daughters. In 1995, the couple moved back to St. Joseph to enjoy their retirement.
Jenny was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a member of the United Way of St. Joseph allocations board for one year. She liked going to garage sales and made many great friends while she was “junking” for treasures. Jenny loved selling her trinkets on eBay.
In addition to her parents, Jenny is preceded in death by siblings Billy Harris, Mary Joan Beckman and Richard Harris.
Surviving family includes husband, Dee Minnis; daughters, Jodi Spain and Kristin Sweetman (Mike); grandchildren Megan Emshoff (Ethan), Nathan Spain, Michael Sweetman, Sophie Sweetman, Lydia Sweetman; siblings, Nancy Lutz (Bill), Susie Auten, David Harris (Sandy) and Michael Harris; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph Missouri.
Parish Rosary: 4:00 PM, Monday, February 25, 2019 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph Missouri. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 7:00 PM at our chapel.
Per her wishes, Mrs. Minnis has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph. Private inurnment at a later date.
The family suggests memorial donations to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
