Wintry precipitation returns to the region beginning Tuesday night, extending into the weekend. Despite minor expected accumulations, slick roads are possible during the morning commute Wednesday through Friday, in addition to Friday evening. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Northeast wind 9 to 11 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. East wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of drizzle before 9 p.m., then a chance of freezing drizzle. Cloudy, with a low around 23. North northeast wind 5 to 9 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. North wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 29.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.

Friday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 18.
