LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – Johnny Carson’s foundation is donating $1 million to support arts and humanities in Nebraska.
The gift from the John W. Carson Foundation is going to the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, the partner in a public-private partnership to support the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Humanities Council.
Carson was the longtime host of “The Tonight Show” on television. He was born in Corning, Iowa, grew up in Norfolk, Neb., and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He died in January 2005.
The endowment’s funding helps arts organizations across the state of Nebraska.
