Ardell Albin Anderson
1928 – 2019
Ardell Albin Anderson 90, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 in a Saint Joseph, MO hospital.
He was born May 28, 1928 in Willmar, Minnesota, son of the late Alice and Albin Anderson. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator retiring from Land Construction. He loved to play guitar, bingo, fishing, riding his tractor and baseball. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Ardell was preceded in death by first wife, LaVonne Marjorie Anderson, who he married on December 13, 1947, and second wife, Orva Mae (Blair) Anderson, son, Jerry Anderson, his parents, sisters, Helen Perleberg, Alma Angle, and Eleanor Gerdes, and his brothers, Delanoe Anderson and Vernal Anderson.
Survivors include: daughters, Susan Trant, Troy, KS, Lois (Curtis) Klimpke, Kansas City, KS, Linda (Larry) Albrecht of TX, Judy (Curtis) Thornton, Gower, MO, Janet (Mark) Davidson, Diane (Francis) Gaume, St. Joseph, MO, and Lisa Ruud, Kansas City, MO, sons: David Anderson, St. Joseph, MO, Donald Anderson, Encinida, CA, Scott (Lorraine) Anderson, Vidalia, GA, Stanley (Pam) Anderson, Oregon, MO, and Michael (Vicki) Anderson, St. Joseph, MO, 42 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, sister, Pauline Leason of Willmar, MN, and a brother, Dwaine Anderson, Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services: 10:00 am Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Rupp Funeral Home. Rev. James Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Paul E. Meers
1922 – 2019
Paul E. Meers, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the age of 96.
He was born November 24, 1922, in Troy, Kansas, to Harrison V. and Nina Meers.
He graduated from Savannah High School in 1940. He attended Platt Business College in St. Joseph. He married Elsie Yocum on January 6, 1945. Paul worked at Hunt’s Orchard for a number of years and then at Seitz Packing Company from 1953 until 1980. He and Elsie operated a dairy from their farm from 1967 to 1993 making many lasting friends. His great loves were Elsie, hay, and lawn work. He continued to do both until age 92.
Paul is survived by one son, Gary (Janet) Meers of Lincoln, Nebraska; two daughters, Carolyn (Steve) Ayers and Marilyn (Jack) Campbell, both of St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Trevor (Teri) Meers of Ankeny, Iowa, Ryan (Debbie) Meers of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jason (Kathy) Ayers of Parkville, Missouri, Eric Campbell of St. Joseph, Kimberly Campbell of Maryville, Missouri, and Angela Campbell of St. Joseph; six great-grandchildren, Justin, Allison, Amanda, Katie, Caleb, and Jocelyn Meers; and two sisters, Arminta and Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter, Tanya Ayers; two brothers; and two sisters.

Eldon Lee “E.L.” Crawford
1936 – 2019
Eldon Lee “E.L.” Crawford, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Savannah, Missouri, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph.
He was born August 2, 1936, on a farm in Barnard, Missouri, to Opha and Hazel Crawford. Eldon was one of nine children and graduated from Graham High School.
In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Akin, and they had 61 ½ years together. To that union there were two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Eldon had been in construction all his adult life. He established E.L. Crawford Construction in 1973. After working in the construction industry for more than fifteen years, Eldon recognized the need for an additional construction company in the area. He was a member of Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and worked on several church and area boards. E.L. loved golfing, fishing with his family, woodworking, snowmobiling, and spending time at the lake and winters in Arizona. He was also a long-time sponsor of Men’s Fastpitch Softball and sponsored youth baseball teams. The biggest love of his life was his family; he would stop and do anything for them.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Opha and Hazel Crawford; brothers, Dale, Forrest, and Curtis Crawford; and infant daughter, Mary Ellen Crawford.
He is survived by two children, Kelly Crawford (Kathy), Savannah, and Kim Gray (Russell), St. Joseph; four grandchildren, Tyler Crawford (Amy), Jessica Baker (Arlin), Hilari McLaughlin (Jordan), Drew Gray (Kate); six great-grandchildren, Kaler Baker, Ace Baker, Cade Crawford, Riley Crawford, Josey Crawford, and Whitley Gray; three sisters, Frances Coffey, Beverly Jackson, and Alice Moats; two brothers, Martin and Jack Crawford, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
