Mustangs dominated Omaha Thursday 15-5

The St. Joseph Mustangs defeated Omaha 15-5 Thursday night in a non-league game inside Phil Welch Stadium.

St. Joe’s collegiate summer baseball team improves to 16-6 this season and they’ve won both matchups with the Bombers this season.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 6-0 lead Thursday as they scored two runs in the first inning, three more in the second and one run in the third inning. The game was called after seven innings as the ten-run rule came into effect when St. Joseph scored four in the bottom of the seventh.

Jackson Dierenfeldt led the Mustangs as he went 3-for-3 with four runs scored. Terrence Spurlin added three runs and three RBI, while Drew Beazley drove in two runs and Brady Holden scored three times.

Ronnie Wiggington earned the win as he gave up four runs in five innings of work, but all four runs were unearned.

The Mustangs are on the road Friday as they get back into MINK League play. St. Joe travels to Sedalia for a showdown with the first-place Bombers at 7:00 p.m. from Liberty Park Stadium.
