A resurfacing project will cause delays along US-36 in northeastern Kansas. Starting Monday and continuing through late September, contractors will repave the highway from the K-87 junction in Marshall County east to 11th Street in Seneca (Nemaha County).
Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.
Eastbound and westbound US-36 traffic will be reduced to one lane for both directions along with intermittent closures of adjacent cross roads. Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via a pilot car and flagger operation. There will be a posted speed limit of 45 mph and a10-foot lane width restriction through the project work zone
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, you should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. They encourage you to use alternate routes, if possible.
Shilling Construction Company of Manhattan is the primary contractor on this resurfacing project with a total contract cost of just over three million dollars. Overall project work is scheduled to be completed in late September 2012.
