A Kansas man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without parole for the murder of a 14-year-old cheerleader whose body was found near the asphalt company where he worked. In April, a jury found Adam Longoria guilty in connection with the death of Alicia DeBolt of Great Bend.
Longoria was found guilty of capital murder under three alternate theories, criminal sodomy, aggravated criminal sodomy and attempted rape.
DeBolt was last seen alive on August 21, 2010. Her family reported her missing the next day.
The office of Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt assisted local prosecutors with the case.
“This crime was a terrible tragedy for the family and community,” Schmidt said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the DeBolt family. I appreciate and commend the work of law enforcement, the prosecution and the court. Justice was served today.”
