Expect Delays On K-120; Paving Project South of Highland

Contractors begin repaving work Thursday on a nine mile stretch of K-120 highway south of Highland in Doniphan County, Kansas.

KDOT contractors will reduce traffic to one lane for both directions during daylight hours on weekdays.

Officials say traffic will be directed through the work zone with a pilot car and flaggers. The work zone is from the south city limits of Highland to the junction with K-20. There will be intermittent closures of the adjacent cross streets during work hours.

There will be a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour and a lane restriction eleven feet wide. No oversized or supersized loads will be allowed through the work zone.

KDOT says drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes maximum and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible.

Dustrol, Inc., of Towanda, Kansas is the primary contractor on this resurfacing project with a total contract cost of $813,119. Project work is scheduled to be completed in early September 2012, weather permitting.
