A St Joseph man was killed in a one-vehicle accident in southern Buchanan County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 21-year-old James C. Derry.

The accident was reported on JJ Highway north of Dekalb, Missouri shortly before five pm.

A crash report indicates Derry lost control of his Ford Ranger and over-corrected. The vehicle crossed the highway three times before striking a guardrail and overturned into a dry creek bed off the west side of the road. Derry was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
