Prosecutor: No Substantive Violations Of Kansas Open Meetings Law

A special investigation into possible violations of the Kansas Open Meetings Law by the governor and members of the Kansas Legislature has concluded that improper meetings were held.

But Shawnee County District Attorney Chadwick Taylor says they could not conclude that any one of the attending lawmakers committed a substantive violation of the law.

Taylor did recommend that members of the legislature receive training on the law. The investigation was requested in January by the Topeka Capital-Journal newspaper, after lawmakers admitted that there was state business discussed during the private, social functions.
