The Missouri Western volleyball team played No. 6 ranked Central Missouri tough in all three sets in Warrensburg, Mo., but fell short in all three games, losing 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-21).
In the first set, the Griffons jumped out to a 6-3 lead behind two kills from Stephanie Hattey, assisted by Jordan Chohon. The Jennies rallied back though to take a 17-16 lead and led on from there to take the first set 25-20.
MWSU took a big lead in the second set as it led 15-7. The Jennies again rallied back, though. Central Missouri went on a 12-2 run to take a 19-17 lead and controlled the set the rest of the way to go ahead 2-0.
In the final set, neither team led by more than two throughout until Central Missouri took a 23-20 lead. That helped the Jennies secure the match 3-0 and improve to 22-4 (14-1, MIAA) as the Griffons fell to 13-15 (4-11).
Stephanie Hattey had a team-high 14 kills, Jordan Chohon finished with 26 assists to lead the Griffons and Amanda Boender added four blocks to help the Griffons.
