Missouri Western stays No. 5 in Super Region Three Rankings

The Missouri Western football team remained 5th in the Super Region Three Rankings, which were released Monday evening.

Out of the ten teams ranked, six received bids to the 2012 Playoffs with the top two teams in the region receiving a bye in the first week of the playoffs. The other four will play in the first round with No. 3 hosting No. 6 and No. 4 hosting No. 5 on Saturday, November 17.

The Super Region Three consists of the four conferences — Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Great American Conference, Great Northwest Athletic Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Association.

Minnesota State Mankato moved up to the No. 1 spot, swapping with Henderson State for the second week in a row. Northwest Missouri State moved up to the 3rd spot and fell one spot to No. 4. Missouri Western sits as the 5th seed followed by Minnesota Deluth.

The Griffons continue MIAA action this weekend, as they take on No. 3 ranked Northwest Missouri State University at 2:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville, Mo. The winner receives the 2012 MIAA Championship outright and will all but solidify a berth in the playoffs, a home game and a possible bye.
