Arraignment is scheduled Tuesday for a 22-year-old St Joseph man accused of stabbing his brother at the apartment they shared Thursday evening.
David Yor Aleer is being held without bond on one count 1st Degree Domestic Assault with serious physical injury. His brother, Daniel Aleer, 25, was stabbed several times at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday after an argument in their apartment at 2121 Riverside Road.
Commander Jim Connors says the victim fled the apartment to get away from the assailant, who also left the apartment and hid in some nearby woods for several hours.
Connors says the victim then returned to the apartment awaiting help. When officers arrived, they had to force entry into the apartment to give aid to the victim. The victim was taken to Heartland for treatment of multiple stab wounds.
Connors says when activity around the apartment slowed down, the suspect came out of hiding and returned to the apartment. He was seen by a neighbor who informed police. Aller was arrested Thursday night at 11:20 p.m.
A judge has denied bond in the case. Arraignment is scheduled Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m. before Buchanan County Associate Circuit Judge Ronald Taylor.
