Steven L. Chancey

1950-2012

Steven L. Chancey, son of Marjorie and the late Wesley Chancey of, St. Joseph, Missouri died peacefully surrounded by family and friends Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Mr. Chancey was a 1968 graduate of Lafayette High School and afterward entered the US Air Force at Lackland AFB, Texas. Mr. Chancey was stationed at Clack AFB in the Philippines during Vietnam and was with the Intelligence Service during that time. After his tour in Asia, he was stationed at various duty stations in the U.S. serving in the JAG Corps. After his service, Mr. Chancey had a distinguished career in the government service. Steven was married to Patty Zowadny and later divorced, they had four children. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Chancey Gilmore; two sisters, Linda Stevens (Charles Wayne), St. Joseph, Missouri and Marjorie Kendall, Savannah, Missouri; brother, Mike Chancey (Holly), Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Chancey; brother, Don Chancey; sister-in-law, Margot Chancey; and infant daughter, Ashley Chancey. Celebration of Life: 3:00 P.M. Virginia S. Cox Glauser

1921-2012

Virginia S. Cox Glauser, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at a local healthcare facility. Virginia was born on November 27, 1921 to Lloyd C. and Mabel G. (Taylor) Steeby. She married Jesse Cox Sr. on June 16, 1942. She later married Ernie Glauser. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Marvin McMurray United Methodist Church, where she had been a choir director, and a member of United Methodist Women. She was a lover of music, gardening, and athletic events of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and sister, Georgia Sparks. Survivors: daughter, Kris Compton (Paul), St. Joseph, Missouri; sons, Jesse Cox Jr. (Charis) Savannah, Missouri, Stephen Cox (Ina), St. Joseph, Missouri, and Tony Cox, Savannah, Missouri; step-son, Greg Glauser (Jayne), St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Stephanie Bush, Jessica, Tara, Carly Cox, Chelsea and Ciara Shepherd; seven step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Margie Bonner (Don); niece, Karen Gallagher; nephew, Greg Wall; and sister-in-law, Thelma Kline. Jack Woodside Clayton

1932-2012

Jack Woodside Clayton, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. He was a life-long resident of St. Joseph, Missouri where he was born on August 4, 1932. Jack married Sharon “Suzy” McKernan on August 27, 1960. She survives of the home. He attended Central High School, where he graduated in 1951. He then attended University of Missouri-Columbia and served in the Korean War for the United States Army. Jack was the owner of Sheridan Clayton Paper from 1956-1987 and Clayton Paper and Distribution from 1992-present. He served on many boards including United Missouri Bank and Commerce Bank, the youngest director for Mechanic Bank, President of St. Joseph Country Club, President of Mount Mora Cemetery, a member of the Boosters Club, Jesters, NPTA, ISSA, and The United Group. Mr. Clayton was an avid golfer and tennis player and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Patee Clayton. Survivors: wife of 52 years; daughters, Jackie Davis (Lyle), Liberty, Missouri, and Julie Guemmer (Derek), Kansas City, Missouri; son, Jim, Clayton (Jenni), St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Mattie, Ben, Reid Catherine, Jack, and Olivia; sister, Martha Jean Burleson, Temple, Texas; and many nieces. Thelma (Adler) Carmen

1914-2012

Thelma (Adler) Carmen, 98, St. Joseph, Missouri died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at a Kansas healthcare facility. She was born February 2, 1914 to Jacob and Fannie Adler in St. Joseph, Missouri. Thelma married Harry C. Carmen on December 25, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1968. She was a member of Temple B’nai Sholem and American Contract Bridge League. She had been a substitute teacher for the St. Joseph School District and helped with numerous volunteer organizations throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Farnol X. Adler, Calvin Adler, and Lee Adler. Survivors: son, Michael Carmen (Barbara), St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Carol Searcy, Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Amy Hall (Chad), Olathe, Kansas, Erin Clift (Jeff), Manhattan, New York, Craig Carmen (Jessica), Ellicott City, Maryland, Laura Terry (Jason), Glendale, Missouri, and Juliane Henne (Peter), Overland Park, Kansas; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
