Caroline Ann (Waller) Garrett, 72, St. Country Club, Missouri died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1940 to Herbert L. and Mary E. (Schleicher) Waller. She married Philip Wolfe on May 2, 1964, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1970. She married Gilbert Garrett on June 30, 1979.. Caroline was in the accounting department at Boehringer Ingelheim and also had worked for American Angus Association. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church MIR House of Prayer, and Boehringer Anchor Vets. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, visiting, and walking. She went to monthly lunches with her Convent of the Sacred Heart classmates of 1958. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Phillip Wolfe; parents; and brother, Bobby Waller. Survivors: husband; sisters, Helen Deatherage (Colin) and Patricia Fisher (Ronnie); step-children, Brent Garrett and Heather Dennis (Richard); step-grandchildren, Matthew and Brian Dennis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene Laverne (Benitz) Treu

Darlene Laverne (Benitz) Treu, 82, passed from this mortal life, Friday, February 8, 2013, at her residence in St. Joseph. Darlene was born January 4, 1931, in Doniphan County, Kansas, to Carl and Hilda (Ramseier) Benitz. She attended Wathena High School, where she was salutatorian of her class. She married Joseph Treu on October 17, 1957, and alternated careers as a homemaker with employment at Westab (Mead), Sheppard Studios, Crouch Brothers, and finally as office manager at IBEW Local 545, where she retired. She was a long serving member of the Altar Society of St. James Church. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, crossword puzzles, gardening, Las Vegas, and time with her children and grandchildren. She was known as an often quiet, but always polite and well-mannered lady, and was a supportive mother. She will be intensely missed by her relatives and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Bobby, Carl Jr., and Bernard. Survivors: son, James Treu, St. Joseph, Missouri; daughters, Alison (Jim) Creal, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Susan (Craig) Walker, Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Melvin Benitz, Baltimore, Maryland; sister, Betty (Jim) Gilpin, Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Jameson and Alanna Treu and Emily and Christopher Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph O. Hood
1925-2013
Ralph O. Hood, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri was surrounded by family and friends who loved him when he completed his final journey and passed peacefully and comfortably into the welcome arms of the Lord on February 10, 2013. He was born April 20, 1925 to Jess and Cora Maude (Fabert) Hood in Ottawa, Kansas. On February 15, 1985, Ralph married Audrey Hood, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2005. Ralph, a World War II veteran served three years in the Army Air Corp as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic. After the Army, Ralph worked at Swift & Company in St. Joseph before becoming the Postmaster at Cosby, Missouri in 1966; Ralph retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Ralph was an outdoor enthusiast all of his life and truly loved fishing, hunting, and working in the garden. In his mid-60’s, his sons introduced him to playing golf, and he became an avid golfer. Ralph achieved what many other golfers only dream about. He hit a hole-in-one when he was 80, and another at 82. Ralph was active with both the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodges in Cosby, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ralph Eugene; wife, Audrey; brothers, George and Howard; sisters, Daisy, Ada, and Ruth. Survivors: brothers, Richard and Jesse Hood; sister, Irene Shepherd; four children, Joyce Hood, Richard (Cheryl), Gail Murray (Bill), and Frank (Pam); many nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Ralph was not a man of many words, but he was quick with a smile, a joke, and a twinkle of his bright blue eyes. Ralph touched the hearts of many during his lifetime, and although he will be missed, he will always be remembered and loved. Services: 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
