A Kansas City man has been sentenced to 95 years in federal prison a string of robberies and attempted robberies in Leavenworth and Topeka.
Charles Shaw, 44, of Kansas City, Mo., was convicted in a jury trial for four robberies and an attempted robbery, plus firearms charges.
Prosecutors say he committed at least five robberies before that.
A U.S. Court jury found Shaw guilty of robbing the Main Street Credit Union in Leavenworth in November 2010, the Citizens National Bank in Leavenworth in February, 2011, and the Educational Credit Union in Topeka in December, 2011.
He was convicted of trying to rob the Education Credit Union in Topeka again in February, 2012.
The jury also found Shaw guilty of carrying a firearm during the attempted robbery, and carrying a firearm after a felony conviction.
Prosecutors say Shaw had five prior convictions for armed robbery dating back to 1983. The judge ordred Shaw to pay $54,052 in restitution.
