State Senator Brad Lager of Savannah says the Missouri State Highway Patrol has damaged its own credibility. Lager is disappointed the Patrol bought a new airplane without legislative approval. The Republican Senator says buying the $5.6-million airplane was a breach of trust.

Lager wants new restrictions requiring legislative approval for any future patrol purchase costing more than $100,000. The Senate has given the measure initial approval.
