The Missouri Western women’s golf team sits just two strokes behind rival Northwest Missouri State at the Central Missouri Early Bird Invitational at Pointe Royale Golf Course after Monday’s first round.
In the first tournament action of the spring season for most teams in the Midwest, the Griffons got a solid team performance in round one. Senior Natalie Bird leads the event by six strokes firing an 82.
As a team the Griffons shot a 368 while NWMSU fired a 366. Fort Hays Stat enters Tuesday’s final day in third firing a 395, while the MIAA’s newest women’s golf program, Central Missouri, finished with a 397.
