A jury in Leavenworth took less than two hours to return a guilty verdict in the trial of a Moped riding cocaine dealer.

Eric Dangerfield was found guilty of possession with intent to sell and driving on a suspended license.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled April 19.

Dangerfield was arrested in September of 2011, and a police search turned up four individually wrapped baggies of cocaine and 28-hundred dollars in cash.

On September 2, 2011, an officer noticed that Dangerfield was not wearing proper eye wear.  Previous to the stop, other Leavenworth Police Officers had seen the moped driver doing suspicious behavior they know resemble a person distributing drugs.

Dangerfield was found to have a suspended driver’s license.  Another officer searched Dangerfield and located a bag that contained 4 individually wrapped baggies each containing an off-white rock-like substance.  Dangerfield also had over $2,800 on his person.  The packaging and large amount of money are consistent with distribution.  The KBI tested the substance and determined that it was cocaine.

A jury trial in Leavenworth County District Court started Monday and finished on Tuesday. The jury took a little less than 2 hours to find Dangerfield guilty of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and driving on a suspended license.
