New Principals, New Honors & A Remembrance At SJSD

SJSD-logo2-150x150There have been several announcements of note this week from the St Joseph School District.

A local assistant principal is being honored by her peers.

Kris Compton, Assistant Principal at Lafayette High School has been named the “Assistant Principal of the Year” by the Northwest District of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Students and staff at Coleman Elementary School will offer a “Celebration of Life” for a longtime teacher. Patty Roach passed away recently after some 30-years at the school. There is a reception at eight am Friday (3/15), and a school assembly in the school’s gym at 9:15.

The pieces of the puzzle are coming together for the new superintendent, Dr. Fred Czerwonka, who takes over the top job this summer. When Dr. Czerwonka accepted the job, there were quite a few job openings among the top staff positions here. The district is fast filling those positions.

Dr. Brad Owings will be principal at Parkway Elementary School effective July 1. Owings comes our way from the West Plains School District, the same district that gave us our new superintendent.

Joni Owens will move from Parkway to take the principal’s job at Gene Field Elementary. Dr. Deborah Stephens moves from Gene Field to take the principal’s job at Central High School. Terri Deayon will become the principal at Edison Elementary. Kevin Carroll moves to Hosea.
