A St Joseph teenager has been sentenced to serve 75 years in prison for the fatal shooting of Brian Ullmer during a home-invasion robbery in 2011.
Elijah Pickett, 18, was ordered to serve 30 years for second degree murder and 15 years each on five separate felony convictions on charges of burglary, attempted robbery and armed criminal action.
A Buchanan County jury found Pickett guilty after a trial in January. He was 16-years-old at the time of the crimes.
Circuit Court Judge Patrick Robb ordered two of the 15-year sentences to be served at the same time as the other sentences.
Two other men pleaded guilty and are serving 20 year terms. A jury acquitted Camareo Goodwin last month. A fifth suspect is awaiting trial.
Witnesses said three men, including Pickett, broke into Ullmer’s home at 214 North 16th Street in August, 2011, intended to rob Ullmer and his family. Two other men were charged with arranging the robbery.
