Rain, Thunder, Lightning – not the most ideal running conditions. Despite the elemental challenges, over 100 runners, walkers, and joggers lined up on a dreary Saturday morning at Missouri Western State University to take part in Gregg and BJ’s Happy Camper Scamper 5k to benefit Camp Quality.
“This (weather) stinks. Not the best conditions, but anything for the camp kids!”, said runner Mike Whacker. Fellow runner David Ball (who ran the annual 5k barefoot) echoed those sentiments. “It’s cold, but it’s time to get this race started.”
The annual 5k raised over $3,000 for Camp Quality of Northwest Missouri, a week long summer camp for kids with cancer.
K-JO 105.5 morning personality Gregg Lynn was thrilled with the turnout. “We appreciate all the runners and walkers braving the weather to support such a great cause. Nothing but smiles to be found despite the tough conditions.”
K-JO will continue their fundraising efforts later this spring with an all day Radio-A-Thon for Camp Quality.
