Kansas senior wide receiver/kick returner Daymond Patterson was named to the 2011 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Specials Teams Watch List Monday afternoon. Patterson, a senior from Mesquite, Texas, was listed as one of the top punt returners in college football.
The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
Patterson has amassed 460 yards on 56 career punt returns through his first three seasons at KU. He has returned one punt for a touchdown, a 75-yard return versus Florida International in his first collegiate game. Patterson has led the Jayhawks in punt returns in each of three seasons in Lawrence.
In addition to his outstanding play on the punt return unit, Patterson also is one of KU’s top receivers. He has hauled in 74 career receptions for 641 yards and four TDs. He led the Kansas receiving corp in 2010 with 60 catches for 487 yards and two TDs.
