A former mayor in suburban St Louis is going to court to try to get his old job back.
The Ellisville City Council voted Monday to remove Adam Paul from office. Councilwoman Linda Reel was the lone dissenter in a 5-1 vote. The meeting was moved to St. John’s Lutheran Church to accommodate an overflow crowd.
Paul left soon after the three-hour meeting began, but not before saying he planned to take the matter to court.
Paul was elected last year after a campaign largely built on opposition to tax incentives for a Wal-Mart project. He was found guilty of failing to control meetings, illegally trying to have the city attorney fired, giving city employees illegal orders and other offenses.
