Dental records and family members indicate the remains found earlier this week in southwest Caldwell County are those of a woman missing there since last June.

Carol Jo Thompson, 51, was last seen June 15 at her home east of Lathrop. She left behind her car, her keys, her purse and her medication.

On Sunday, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office was called to a remote area after someone found the remains.
