Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis rallies past Washburn

riggertNorthwestIt was not the way Head Coach Mark Rosewell drew up the game plan Saturday, but the Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Emporia State on Senior Day.

The Bearcats improved to 11-8 on the season after losing all three doubles matches to start the day. The win improved the Bearcats record to 6-2 in the MIAA while the Hornets fell to 12-6 and 6-5 in conference play.

After doubles Bearcats rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take five of six matches in singles play to steal the victory.

Camila Quesada battled for a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over Nicole Jara getting Northwest back on track.

Senior Emily Hoffman also picked up her third straight victory at No. 6 singles battling for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 win.

Northwest returns to action for its final home match of the season against Southwest Baptist. Action from Frank Grube Courts is scheduled to start at noon.
