It was not the way Head Coach Mark Rosewell drew up the game plan Saturday, but the Northwest Missouri State women’s tennis team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Emporia State on Senior Day.
The Bearcats improved to 11-8 on the season after losing all three doubles matches to start the day. The win improved the Bearcats record to 6-2 in the MIAA while the Hornets fell to 12-6 and 6-5 in conference play.
After doubles Bearcats rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take five of six matches in singles play to steal the victory.
Camila Quesada battled for a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over Nicole Jara getting Northwest back on track.
Senior Emily Hoffman also picked up her third straight victory at No. 6 singles battling for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 win.
Northwest returns to action for its final home match of the season against Southwest Baptist. Action from Frank Grube Courts is scheduled to start at noon.
