The Trails West! festival on Monday announced the entertainment lineup for this year’s festival, and unveiled the artwork for t-shirts, posters, and admission buttons.

Funk-RB band Here Come The Mummies, legendary Southern rock band 38 Special, and country stars Ashley Monroe and Jerrod Niemann will be the main stage headline acts for the festival, August 16-18, at Civic Center Park in St. Joseph.

“We are thrilled to welcome such a wonderful group of talented artists to St. Joseph,” says Teresa Fankhauser, executive director, Allied Arts Council of St. Joseph. “Trails West! offers high-value entertainment in a unique atmosphere at a very affordable price. The lineup of entertainment never disappoints as we continue to build on the success of finding the up-and-coming artists to play in our city each summer.”

Known for their live performances in full mummy bandages, Here Come the Mummies (HCTM), will take the main stage on Friday, Aug. 16. HCTM consists of 10 talented musicians who dress in bandages and whose stage names are cleverly depicted as nome de crypts. Their songwriting styles are continually evolving after ten years of performing and they will perform many songs from their album, “Cryptic.”

Southern rock superstars 38 Special have stood the test of time and been together for more than 40 years. With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more. 38 Special will be sure to bring the audience a few “oldies but goodies” when they perform on Saturday, Aug. 17th.

Dubbed as “country’s up-and-coming female star,” Ashley Monroe will perform on Sunday, Aug. 18th on the main stage, as an opening act for Jerrod Niemann. As a sidekick to country superstar Miranda Lambert, and Angeleena Presley in the group “Pistol Annies,” Monroe recently released her solo debut album, “Like a Rose” which features a collaboration with Blake Shelton. She broke into country music in 2007 with her duet with Ronnie Dunn of Brooks and Dunn with “I Don’t Want To.”

Jerrod Niemann was named a finalist for the 2012 Academy of Country Music Award’s “New Artist of the Year” award. Niemann will perform Sunday, August 18. He has toured with Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley. Niemann already claims a number one country hit with “Lover, Lover” and Top 5 single “What Do You Want.” A Liberal, Kan., native, Niemann draws fans in by his boyish, down-home charm, and they soon discover there’s more behind his good looks: an unyielding desire to craft song writing and music theory with production to create “musical science” as he calls it.
