Authorities in south-central Kansas are investigating the death of a motorist in a collision with a train as a suicide.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday north of Wellington.

The Sumner County sheriff told the station the male driver had parked the car on the tracks and made no effort to move it as the train approached.

Officials from Wellington, Belle Plaine and the railroad company were investigating Monday night.
