(Update) Lansing Escapees Holed Up In Clinton County; Shots Fired At Officers

Three minimum security inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility have escaped. Officials now say two of the three men fired on Platte County deputies after a Platte City police officer tried to stop them in a stolen vehicle. Those two are now holed up in a house in Clinton County.

There is a SWAT team response in progress at the home along Z highway west of US-169. Z-highway has been closed as a safety precaution.

Authorities are searching for Allen Hurst, 31, Scott Gilbert, 49, and Randy Ridens Sr., 57.

Officials confirmed the three were missing Friday morning.

Hurst and Gilbert are serving time for burglary and theft out of Sedgwick County. Ridens was convicted of burglary and theft out of Shawnee and Douglas counties.
